<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording device capable of recording driving situation data allowing analysis by simple decoding even if the data recording device is mounted on vehicles of diverse specifications. <P>SOLUTION: A driving situation data writing part 13 writes sequential driving situation data and snapshot driving situation data into a driving situation data recording part 14. At that time, when the sequential driving situation data corresponding to a sequential driving situation data form is not output from a sequential driving situation data collection part 11, preset unrealistic data that are unrealistic as the driving situation data are written in the driving situation data recording part 14.
