PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil composition applicable to a high-speed main shaft which is equipped with a ceramic ball roller bearing or the like and is operated in a severe atmosphere of high speed and high load. SOLUTION: The lubricating oil composition comprises at least one base oil selected from among mineral oils and/or synthetic oils and incorporated therewith at least one additive, contained in the base oil, selected from the group consisting of an acid amide, obtained by a reaction of an amine with a 12-30C saturated monocarboxylic acid or an 18-24C unsaturated monocarboxylic acid, sarcosinic acid and aspartic acid derivatives. The lubricating oil composition is suitable for lubricating a ceramic ball roller bearing. A phosphorus-containing carboxylic acid, a phosphorus-containing carboxylate ester, an acidic phosphate ester, a thiophosphate ester, a thiophosphoric acid metal salt, a thiocarbamic acid metal salt or the like may be further added to the lubricating oil composition.
