PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stepping motor excellent in starting performance. SOLUTION: The stepping motor is equipped with a stator 1, a rotor 2, a bracket 3 (bottom plate), and a cover 4. The stator 1 has: a first annular stator yoke 6 which has a plurality of polar teeth 5 arranged along the peripheral edge; a second annular stator yoke 8 which has a plurality of polar teeth 7 counterposed to the first stator yoke 6; a stator coil 9 which is arranged between the first and second stator yokes 6 and 8, a core 10 which is inserted into a hole made at the center of the stator coil 9; and a metallic bearing 11 which is inserted into a hole made at the center of the core 10. Since the first and second interpoles 21 and 22 are biased in the gap between the polar teeth of the first and second stator yokes 6 and 8, the stabilizing position of the holding torque and the stabilizing position of detent torque are surely shifted, whereby it eliminates the nonconformity in which the stepping motor does not start, and the starting performance is improved.
