<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely track a desired subject to be imaged in an imaging apparatus such as a digital camera. <P>SOLUTION: An image data of a subject to be imaged obtained from an imaging means 58 is displayed on a display means 18 and the subject in the image data is specified by a subject specifying means 66, and the specified subject is surrounded with a tracking frame by a tracking frame display means 78. The subject surrounded with the tracking frame by the tracking frame display means 78 is tracked by a subject tracking means 77 and the shooting conditions within the tracking frame is controlled by an imaging condition controlling means 82. It is checked by a subject authentication means 80 whether the subject within the tracking frame is the subject specified by the subject specifying means 66.
