PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a spindle driving circuit of a disk drive unit handling a CLV type disk from overheating due to frequent seek in random-access. SOLUTION: A system controller 9 for the optical disk unit samples a spindle driving control voltage, saves an absolute value (spindle driving value) of a difference between the sampled value and a reference voltage, integrates the saved spindle driving values at every timer interruption of a predetermined period, and compares the integrated value with a preset threshold. The system controller 9 carries out a normal seek control in a seek enable mode with a servo circuit 7 by using a sled driving section 10 when the integrated value is smaller than the threshold, while halts seek operation for a predetermined period of time as a seek waiting mode when the integrated value is equal to or larger than the threshold.
