PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display and a method for driving the liquid crystal display by which image quality can be enhanced, when a plurality of signal lines are driven in time-division manner, using a single amplifier. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display is equipped with a liquid crystal panel 100 and a drive unit 200. The liquid crystal panel 100 includes a plurality of scanning lines G, a plurality of signal lines D and a plurality of pixels P in which pixels along the scanning line are in the same color. The drive unit 200 includes a plurality of amplifiers 25 for driving the plurality of signal lines D. The driving unit 200 controls, in time-division manner, each of the plurality of amplifiers 25, in such a manner that each amplifier 25 drives a first group of pixels Pn1 connected to one scanning line Gn in the plurality of pixels in a first period of one scanning line selection period and drives a second group of pixel Pn2 connected to the scanning line Gn in a second period of the scanning line selection period.
