Folding apparatus and method for setting-up a tray

A method for the automatic production of a cardboard box, or tray, from a flat form with prepared fold lines has the flat form placed onto a prepared recess with some of the tag bent upwards by the action. The stamp (8) presses the flat form into a shaped recess (4) thereby bending up the side panels to form a tray. The stamp is retracted and the tops of the end panels are bent inwards to press into the final position using a wider stamp obtained by a wider spacing of the two parts of the stamp. The process can be used for most types of cardboard including multi layer corrugated.
