PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption resulting from battery-checking by disusing a useless battery checking sequence in a method for checking a battery for electronic equipment. SOLUTION: The electronic equipment using the battery as a power source includes: a first battery residual amount detecting means for detecting the residual amount of the battery by connecting the battery to a prescribed electric resistance; a second battery residual amount detecting means for detecting the residual amount of the battery by integrating the discharge amount of the battery; and a control means for controlling the first battery residual amount detecting means so as not to operate when the battery residual amount obtained by the second battery residual amount detecting means is larger than the prescribed battery residual amount.
