A conveying device (30) conveys a recording medium (P) to an image transfer unit that transfers an image formed on an image carrier to the recording medium (P). A first longitudinal registration correcting unit (32) corrects a misalignment of the recording medium (P) in its conveying direction. A lateral registration correcting unit (31) corrects a misalignment of the recording medium (P) in its width direction after the first longitudinal registration correcting unit (32) corrects the misalignment of the recording medium (P) in the conveying direction. A second longitudinal registration correcting unit (33) that corrects the misalignment of the recording medium (P) in the conveying direction again after the lateral registration correcting unit (31) corrects the misalignment of the recording medium (P) in the width direction.
