<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device that can display a thumbnail image such that visibility is high and the long/short ratio of a source image is different from usual at a glance, and to provide a program. <P>SOLUTION: The long/short ratio of an image (i) whose thumbnail image is displayed in an i-th turn is acquired from a JPEG file (108). It is discriminated whether the image (i) is a panoramic image or an ordinary image (110) and when the image (i) is a panoramic image, the image (i) is reduced and displayed (116) by trimming a region of "7/3" in a long/short ratio from the image (i) when the display size of the thumbnail image is "small size"(112, 114), trimming a region of "8/3" in long/short ratio from the image (i) (118, 120) when "intermediate", and trimming a region of "9/3" in long/short ratio from the image (i) (122) when "large".
