<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image display device capable of obtaining a high resolution in a horizontal/vertical direction. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display panel 34 displays thereon a progressive image in which an image for right eye and an image for left eye alternately appear at intervals of one horizontal line and odd-numbered fields and even-numbered fields are changed in the order of frames. On the other hand, a first light source 27 emitting two beams in polarization directions orthogonal to each other and a second light source 28 emitting two beams in polarization directions opposite to the first light source 27 are alternately turned on, and left and right eyes of an observer are converged via a Fresnel lens 33, a line type polarizing filter 35, the liquid crystal display panel 34 and a polarizing filter 36. In the line type polarizing filter 35, filter line parts in polarizing directions orthogonal to each other are alternately disposed for each horizontal line. Each time the progressive image is changed, the light sources 27, 28 are switched, thereby improving resolution not only in the horizontal direction but also in the vertical direction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
