An image data location providing apparatus and a method thereof are provided to set a file name of image data of a subject as region information a user wants, thereby easily searching photographed image data. A location information providing unit extracts location information according to a selection signal of a map icon outputted from image data. The image data is photographed from header information of image data(S118). The location information providing unit maps the location information on a prestored digital map data to generate location display information. Image data is photographed to the location information(S120). The location information providing unit outputs the photographed image data and the location display information on a display unit(S122).
