<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sulfur occluding catalyst which improves occlusion performance of SO<SB>x</SB>by suppressing the degradation of oxidation activity of noble metal and is excellent in endurance. <P>SOLUTION: Noble metal is deposited at least on an upstream side catalyst part 20, and an SO<SB>x</SB>occlusion material such as Mg and K of degrading the activity of noble metal is deposited on a downstream side catalyst layer 21. The noble metal deposited on the upstream side catalyst part 20 suppresses the degradation of oxidation activity and, therefore, efficiently oxidizes SO<SB>2</SB>to make SO<SB>x</SB>. The SO<SB>x</SB>is occluded and retained by the SO<SB>x</SB>occlusion material deposited on the downstream side catalyst layer 21. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
