PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve troublesome setting-up by automatizing setting-up of lighting in a lighting device and lighting system. SOLUTION: The lighting system 1 comprises a plurality of lighting sections 2 for irradiating light on exhibited and displayed clothes C, a control section 4 for individually controlling turning-on of the lighting sections, IC tags 5 memorizing clothes information of the clothes C and installed on the respective clothes C, and a plurality of IC tag readers 6 for reading the clothes information from the IC tags. The lighting device 10 is provided with one lighting section 2, one control section 4, one IC tag reader 5, and one IC tag reader 6. The control section 4 controls turning-on of the lighting section 2 on the basis of the clothes information read out by the IC tag reader 6. Based on the structure, the IC tag reader 6 reads out the clothes information from the IC tag 5 installed on the clothes C, and the control section 4 automatically controls turning-on of the lighting section 2 on the basis of the clothes information.
