PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder which can reduce the installation area by preventing an enlargement of the recorder. SOLUTION: The recorder comprises a recording head having an opening for ejecting a liquid droplet, a means for moving the recording head up and down, a liquid droplet receiving portion supported rotatably at a position opposing the recording head and receiving a liquid droplet ejected from the ejection opening of the recording head, a discharge passage for passing waste liquid from the liquid droplet receiving portion to a waste liquid storage section, and a drive means for rotating the liquid droplet receiving portion wherein the drive means and the discharge passage are arranged in the same direction with respect to the liquid droplet receiving portion.
