PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film excellent in property of developing in-plane and thickness-direction retardations and in aptitude for fabricating a polarizing plate.

SOLUTION: The optical film comprises a thermoplastic resin composition containing a lactone ring-containing polymer and has a coefficient of linear thermal expansion of ≤80 ppm.
