<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine exhaust-emission purifying apparatus and exhaust-emission control unit that inhibits rich poisoning of catalyst in rear stage. <P>SOLUTION: An exhaust-emission purifying apparatus 100A of an internal combustion engine is configured to have: a prestage catalyst 11A disposed in an exhaust system 10A of an internal combustion engine 50 longitudinally mounted on a vehicle; and a rear-stage catalyst 12 disposed in series with the prestage catalyst 11A in a portion downstream of the prestage catalyst 11A in an exhaust system 10A. The exhaust-emission purifying apparatus 100A includes a bypass pipe 15A that communicates with an exhaust passage in the portion of upstream of the prestage catalyst 11A in the exhaust system 10A, as well as that communicates with the exhaust passage of the exhaust system 10A in the portion between the prestage catalyst 11A and the rear-stage catalyst 12, in the exhaust system 10A. The bypass pipe 15A is disposed in a position significantly apart from the exhaust passage of the exhaust system 10A in a direction orthogonal rather than parallel to the main vibration direction F of the internal combustion engine 50. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
