PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration control technique for efficiently reducing vibration of natural frequency mode of a structure and a detecting technique for efficiently detecting the vibration. SOLUTION: The vibration control device 11 for reducing a vibration mode generated on the structure by applying a compression force or a tensile force between two points P<SB>1</SB>, P<SB>2</SB>of the structure 100 is provided with at least one actuator 111 for generating a driving force in a predetermined direction, at least one transmission body 112, connected with the actuator 111 for transmitting the driving force as the compression force or the tensile force or converting the driving force to the compression force or the tensile force and transmitting them, and two supporting means 113A, 113B for applying the compression force or the tensile force to the structure. About the two supporting means 113A, 113B, both of them are installed at the structure or one of them is installed at the structure and the other one is formed as part of the structure.
