PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature compensation crystal oscillator that can ensure high compensation precision, and to provide a method for compensating the temperature of an oscillator. SOLUTION: The temperature compensation crystal oscillator comprises: an oscillation circuit 21 including an oscillator 11; a temperature detection section 16; voltage-variable capacitive elements 13, 14 connected to the oscillation loop of the oscillation circuit 21; and a temperature compensation circuit 18 for applying a compensation voltage, compensated for a temperature change by receiving temperature data detected by the temperature detection section 16, to the voltage-variable capacitive elements 13, 14. In the temperature compensation circuit 18, measurement data at the temperature detection section are interporated by a cubic spline function to generate a compensation voltage.
