PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the amount of liquid within a liquid container with high precision. SOLUTION: The liquid level detector 28 for detecting the height position of a liquid level of a developer container 272 containing liquid squirted by a liquid squirting device 63 comprises a first waterwheel 64, a first rotation detecting mechanism 282, and a first liquid level detecting means 283a. The first waterwheel 64 is arranged within the developer container 272 and is rotated by the liquid squirted by the liquid squirting device 63. The first rotation detecting mechanism 282 detects the rotational condition of the first waterwheel 64. The first liquid level detecting means 283a detects the liquid level height position of the liquid from the detection result of the first rotation detecting mechanism 282.
