PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weight detecting method which can detect the weight of an object to be handled while achieving cost reduction. SOLUTION: A CPU first drivingly controls a steering motor on the basis of a control program stores in a storage device. Next, the CPU calculates the difference between the steering instruction angle for a rear wheel and the present steering angle of the rear wheel provided by a steering potentiometer. The CPU then detects the weight of the object to be handled, which is carried by a forklift, from the calculated difference and a weight map stored in the storage device. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
