The invention is a process for making reinforced composites using an epoxy resin composition. The epoxy resin compositions are hardened using a gemdi(cyclohexylamine)-substituted alkane as a hardener and a tertiary amine compound, a heat-activated catalyst, or a mixture thereof as an accelerator. This epoxy resin composition has a long open time, and then cures rapidly in a mold in the presence of a reinforcement. These cure characteristics make the composition well suited for use in manufacturing processes such as resin transfer molding (RTM), vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM), Seeman Composites Resin Infusion Molding Process (SCRIMP) and reaction injection molding (RIM).
