A polygonal rotating mirror for two dimensional scanning optics and projection unit are provided to maintain a scanning precision of a rotation axis direction in two dimensional scanning with one dimensional right angle polygonal rotating mirror level by utilizing a normal one dimensional right angle polygon rotating mirror. In a polygonal rotating mirror(10) including one or more reflecting surfaces(11), the polygonal rotating mirror is rotated by arranging a symmetrical central axis as a rotating axis by a driving motor. beta is a reflection angle component of a vertical direction among lights reflected from each reflecting surface of the polygonal rotating mirror.
