The present invention concerns a method for determining if a handover needs to be executed for a mobile terminal of a wireless cellular telecommunication network from a first base station to a second base station, the mobile terminal being involved in an ongoing communication through the first base station, characterised in that the method comprises the steps of:
- obtaining variation of a first signal related to the ongoing communication,
- obtaining variation of a second signal transferred by the first base station and by the second base station,
- determining that a handover needs to be executed if the variation of the first signal and the variation of the second signal are different.
