A gravel packing method comprises running in a packer and a screen assembly supported by the packer and inserting a crossover that supports a wash pipe at least in part into the packer. The crossover is moved from a first position for setting the packer to a second position after the packer is set and depositing gravel outside the screen using circrulation through the crossover. When the crossover is in the second position, the positions held after the depositing and excess gravel reversed by flowing fluid in a reverse and the reverse flow isolated from passing through the screen. The method may include a check valve to prevent flow down the wash pipe to the screen when the crossover tool is in the second position and performing a squeeze operation with a shutoff valve. |
