The invention relates to a method for detecting a rogue base station in a cellular network. The method comprises receiving signaling messages (310) by a mobile apparatus at least from one base station of a cellular network, interpreting a received signaling message, searching for an anomaly (311) by comparing at least one signaling parameter of the received signaling message from a first base station to a known comparison signaling parameter and giving an alert (314) if the comparison gives an unequal result concerning at least one signaling parameter. The invention relates also to a measurement apparatus and software utilized in the method.
