<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a light source with a large light quantity, which is suitable for a three-dimensional picture display device by efficiently cooling the light source. <P>SOLUTION: A light source unit is formed with a long shape extending in a right-and-left direction toward a liquid crystal display panel 232 and is equipped with a light source 243 with a plurality of light emitting elements 248 disposed along the right-and-left longitudinal direction, a light source housing holder 242 and a polarizing filter 246 to convert light from the light source 243 into specified polarized light. The light source housing holder 242 houses and fixes the light source 243, is constructed so as to form a spatial route 281 along the light source 243 inside the holder 242 in a state of attaching the polarizing filter 246 to an opening face and is equipped with a ventilating means to replace air inside the light source housing holder 242. The ventilating means is equipped with an electrically driven fan 286, intake ports 264, 270 to draw in air into the spatial route 281 and a discharge port 273 to discharge air in the spatial route 281. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
