PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a length of an overall roller by reducing a surface length difference of rollers while effectively preventing a water circulation. SOLUTION: In the continuously damping device for a printer, a water fountain roller 2 is dipped in a water boat 1. A water metering roller 3 is brought into contact with the roller 2 and disposed. A water lateral distributing roller 4 is brought into contact with the roller 3 and disposed. A form damping roller 5 is brought into contact with the roller 4 and disposed. Then, the roller 5 is brought into contact with a press plate 7 mounted at a plate cylinder 6 to form a water film on the plate 7. Both side end peripheral edges of the roller 3 are coated with silicone rubber. The silicone rubber layer has water repellency, and hence water is stopped at the edges to prevent a water circulation from the roller 3 to the roller 4. When this circulation is prevented, a surface length difference of the rollers 3 and 4 can be shortened, and hence an axial lengths of the rollers 2 to 5 can be also entirely shortened. This is effective to reduce the size of the printer. |
