<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glass substrate for a magnetic disk and the like having an excellent end part shape (a nearly flat end part shape) by reducing disorder of the end part shape (swelling and sagging of the end part shape). <P>SOLUTION: A manufacturing method for the glass substrate for the magnetic disk is disclosed in which a polishing cloth provided with a base layer and a foaming resin layer as shown in the figure is used and a glass disk and the polishing cloth are relatively moved to perform polishing, and the method is characterized in that the polishing cloth provided with the foaming resin layer wherein a base layer side pore has ≤200 μm diameter is selected, for example and a polishing liquid containing colloidal particles is supplied to polish the glass disk. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
