Two ducts 2, 3, having integral flanges provided with parallel facing surfaces and inclined rear surfaces are connected by two coupling members 12, 13 each having surfaces constituted by balls or rollers 18 for contacting the inclined rear surfaces. The coupling members are drawn together by screwed rods which connect the lower member 12 to an equalizing lever 23 crosspivoted in the upper member 13. Two lateral lugs 6 extend from the flange 4 of duct 2 to position the other duct. Packing is provided between the flanges 4, 5. The flanges may be square, as shown, or circular. The arrangement provides a joint suitable for disconnection by remote control, as when employed in a nuclear reactor.</p> |
