Solid mineral particle filter beds, as used in water softening plant, are cleaned by pressing a back flow liquid through a tubular washing device, ejecting the mineral particles into this flow in which they are washed and by leading the flow with the mineral particles back into the bed at a suitable distance below the surface area of the filter bed. This system prevents the agglomeration and clogging of dirt at the surface of the bed. |
