The arms 5 of a stirrup-shaped coupler link 3 for connecting lengths of chain in a doublechain scraper conveyer are made at an angle of e.g. 5 degrees so that when a scraper flight 6 is bolted within them the inside faces are brought parallel in contact with the scraper flight co-operating faces thus introducing compressive stress at points A, A<SP>1</SP> where neighbouring links 4 are attached. This reduces the maximum working stress of the link when the chain is tensioned in use, increasing the working life. |
