Catalytic monitoring method for catalytic converter, involves declaring examined catalytic converter in good operating state, if exothermic response is identical to response of catalytic converter in good operating state

The method involves injecting unburnt hydrocarbon that is saturated by an aged catalytic converter in to upstream of a catalytic converter (38). Values of exothermic response of the catalytic converter are compared with a response of an inert catalytic converter. The examined catalytic converter in good operating state is declared, if the exothermic response is identical to response of the catalytic converter in good operating state. An independent claim is also included for system for effectively monitoring catalytic of a catalytic converter.
