A convertible handset and a telephone having the same are provided to make a call possible even when a user holds the handset upside down. A convertible handset comprises the followings: the first sound signal input/output part(140) and the second sound signal input/output part(145) which includes speakers(141,146) and microphones(142,147), respectively; state-changed signal generating units(110,120) which generates a state modification signal in case they are inclined higher than a reference position set between the first and second sound signal input/output parts; and a switching unit which maintain a connection state with an input-output interface circuit when the state modification signal is not applied while performing a switching operation for connection to the input-output interface circuit when the state modification signal is applied. |
