LUBE BASE OIL, PROCESS FOR PRODUCTION THEREOF, AND LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION

A lube base oil characterized by having a saturated hydrocarbon content of 90% by mass or above, a content of cyclic saturated hydrocarbons in the whole saturated hydrocarbon of 40% by mass or below, a viscosity index of 110 or above, and an iodine number of 2.5. The base oil is excellent in viscosity temperature relationship, thermal stability and oxidation stability and when additives are added to the base oil, the additives can exert their functions at high levels. The base oil can be suitably used in various fields of lubricating oil and can lower the energy loss of devices when applied to the devices and attain energy saving, thus being very useful. ® KIPO & WIPO 2009
