METHOD FOR ASSOCIATION BETWEEN BASE-STATION AND MOBILE TERMINAL IN BROADBAND WIRELESS ACCESS SYSTEM

A method for associating a base station with a mobile terminal in a broadband wireless access system is provided to compensate the delay time generated during a process of transmitting backbone messages in a linking step, thereby enabling the mobile terminal to perform ranging at the time when the base station to be linked assigns a resource. A method for performing the link between a mobile terminal(MSS) and base stations(BS1~3) in a wireless communication system comprises the following steps of: transmitting the first message which requests the first information related to the suitableness of a neighboring base station to a serving base station(B1); receiving the second message about the possibility of the link between the mobile terminal and at least one neighboring base station as a response to the first message from the serving base station; and transmitting the third message to at least one neighboring base station.
