In a system comprising a plurality of stations 22, 23 for treating uniform objects (not shown), automatic conveying means 24 between the stations 22, 23, and storage means 25, 26; between a station 22 and the succeeding storage means 25, 26, and between the latter and the succeeding station 23 are provided respective counting devices 55, 52, which are coupled to each side of a differential gear 101 provided with a movable member 17 (Fig. 1) for recording the difference between the numbers registered by the two counting devices 55, 52, and controlling the output of either the station 22 or the station 23. The two respective counting inputs to the gear 101 are by means of shafts 4, 6. The shaft 4 is threaded and engages the internal threaded bore of the boss of a gear 7. The latter is in mesh with a gear 9 which is in splined engagement with the shaft 6. The two gears 7, 9, are coupled together by a member 9 which is rigid with a slide 10 mounted on a rod 11 and which carries a cam 12 co-operating with a follower 13 on an arm 14. A disc 17 pivotally mounted on the pivot axis 15 of the arm 14 is urged anticlockwise by a spring 20 so that a stop 18 of the disc 17 abuts a stop 19 of the arm 14. A spring 16 urges the follower 13 into engagement with the cam 12. Thus the disc 17 normally records the difference between the counting input to the shafts 4, 6, but this can be overridden by manual operation of an arm 21 connected to the disc 17. In Fig. 2, there are two sorting stations 25, 26, and counting devices 27, 37, and 28, 38, at their respective inputs and outputs. Differential gears 33, 43, connected to the counting devices of the respective sorting stations 25, 26, are connected to either side of a differential gear 46, the output of which is connected to a similar gear 49, the other input of which is from the counting device 52. The output of the gear 49 and the output of the counting device 55 are connected to the gear 101. This controls a regulating device 113 which controls an adjustment member 115 of the output of the station 22. As shown the stations 22, and 23, are for bottle rinsing and filling respectively. |
