<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive electrode for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery in which cycle characteristics of charge and discharge are improved. <P>SOLUTION: A positive electrode for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having an active material layer containing an active material, contains in the active material layer a chemical compound expressed by LiNi<SB>1-x</SB>Ti<SB>x</SB>O<SB>2</SB>(in the formula, 0<x<0.7) apart from the active material. In the chemical compound, I (003)/I (104) which is a peak ratio of a face (003) and a face (104) in its X-ray diffraction pattern is preferably 0.4 to 0.9.
