<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform an operation according to the use of a tape cassette. <P>SOLUTION: The tape drive device is provided with a tape drive means for recording and/or reproducing information in a magnetic tape housed in a tape cassette, a memory drive means for performing required communication processing in a memory for storing management information to manage recording and/or reproducing in the magnetic tape to read and/or write the management information, a purpose identification information detection means for detecting purpose identification information for setting an operation in the tape cassette to one of read-only, only additional recording or reproducing, and a shift to an ejection standby state and which is cannot be changed by a user from the read-only area of the memory, and performing an operation for the magnetic tape based on the purpose identification information with respect to a required operation command. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
