<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device and projector, suitably used for a high-luminance projector, suppressing lowering of overall illuminance of the light source device even when one of a plurality of light source lamps cannot be turned on, reducing the time for replacing the light source lamps, and saving the time and trouble for the replacement work. <P>SOLUTION: This light source device 110 includes: light source lamps 1A-1C disposed in a first position P1 and a second position P2 for turning on the light source lamps when the light source is driven and a third position P3 for turning off the light source lamp when the light source is driven, respectively; a rotary holding board 70; a light synthesizing optical system 90; a lighting state detecting part 720; and a rotary driving part 700 for rotating the rotary holding board 70 to move the light source lamp detected to be faulty by the lighting state detecting part 720 to the third position and move the light source lamp disposed in the third position to the first position P1 or the second position P2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
