PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate need for conventional glass or ceramic contact enclosures, and enable to use inexpensive relays in required applications. SOLUTION: Sealed relays intended for high-voltage or high-power switching are enclosed in a hermetically sealed plastic housing or jacket 11 capable of long-term maintenance of either high vacuum or pressurized insulating gas within the relay to suppress contact arcing during switching.
