PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove tannin from gum arabic (Talha gum) originating from Acacia seyal, using a processing method that does not use hydrogen peroxide suspected of being carcinogenic. SOLUTION: Gum arabic (Talha gum) originating from Acacia seyal is dissolved in water from which dissolved oxygen has been removed. This aqueous solution is processed with a synthetic adsorbent to absorb and remove tannin. In this way, tannin-free talha gum usable in food applications is obtained. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
