PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that there is no Shogi (Japanese chess) playing robot which can enjoy playing the Shogi with a sense of presence by actually using pieces of the shogi and can be used for long with a sense of closeness. SOLUTION: The robot comprises: a Shogi board 102; a placement situation recognition means 13 for recognizing a placement situation of pieces; a next move determining means 61 for determining a next move on the Shogi playing robot side from a result recognized by the placement situation recognition means 13; and a piece moving means for performing prescribed operation so that a move follows the executed next move determined by the next move determining means 61.
