Double sided coating involves applying coating medium in indirect manner simultaneously on both web sides (1a,1b) of the fibrous web (1). A penetration depth in the fibrous web is attained with double application. The treated fibrous web is subjected to an intermediate drying (5). A coating medium is applied on both web sides in indirect manner. The value of the former penetration depth is greater than the value of the another penetration depth.
