MOBILE COMMUNICATION TERMINAL, AND COMMUNICATION AREA DETECTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile communication terminal which can shorten time from moving in a wireless LAN communication area to start of waiting without increasing consumption of a battery.

SOLUTION: While the portable terminal 1 perform communications with a mobile communication center 4 through a mobile communication network 2 by mobile communication, it is provided with: a communication control unit 12 which performs communications with the mobile communication center 4 through an AP (Access Point) 3 by a wireless LAN; a memory 14 which memorizes mobile communication areas including a wireless LAN communication area; a collating unit 15 which collates the mobile communication area where the own machine is locating and the communication area memorized in the memory 14; a search unit 16 which searches whether the own machine is locating in the wireless LAN communication area or not based on the collating result of the collating unit 15; a wireless LAN area discrimination unit 17 which discriminates whether the own machine is locating in the wireless LAN communication area or not from the search result of the search unit 16; and a bearer switching unit 18 which switches communication interfaces.
