<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent interference with the reduction in the unit thickness when a reflector is fitted to the backlight unit, in a direct backlight unit used for a liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: When a reflector is fitted to a chassis, the reflector reflecting lower part of light from a light source tube supplying backlight to a liquid crystal panel to uniform the reflected light, a reflector-fitting hole for inserting therein a protrusion of the reflector is so formed that the diameter of the lower part of the hole is larger than that of the upper part of the hole. As a result, when the protrusion is inserted in the hole, the front end of the protrusion hooks on the hole to prevent the protrusion from sticking out of the undersurface of the chassis. The hole for inserting the protrusion therein is formed so that it has a step by which the diameter of the lower part of the hole is enlarged or so that a diameter gets wider continuously. The protrusion may be welded by heat when inserted in the hole, or may be provided as an insertion pin whose front end widens after being inserted in the hole. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
