<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluid bearing motor with less variation in motor performance resulting from a change in viscosity of bearing fluid caused by a change in temperature, and to provide a disk device using the fluid bearing motor. <P>SOLUTION: The fluid bearing comprises a sleeve 4 having a shaft insertion hole 4a, a shaft 2 rotatable while being inserted in the shaft insertion hole 4a and supported with the sleeve 4, and bearing fluid formed between the inner surface of the shaft insertion hole 4a of the sleeve 4 and the shaft 2. The shaft 2 is formed of a material selected from a group comprising a steel material, a ferrous alloy material, an aluminum based alloy material and a copper based alloy material.
