PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manufacture a rotary actuator device through enhancement of multi-purpose properties (versatility) and multi-functionality of a rotary solenoid by freely displacing (stopping) an output shaft to an optional position between two positions, right side position or left side position, in addition to the functions of an original rotary solenoid which switches the output shaft between the two positions, and also through developments executed on the basis of a conventional rotary solenoid. SOLUTION: A pair of coils 4p, 4q is disposed to positions Xp, Xq other than 180°symmetric position in the circumferential direction of a stator part 2 to constitute a first magnetic pole part M1 and a second magnetic pole part M2. The rotary actuator device is provided with a back tension applying means 8 for applying back tension to the rotor part 5 which is turned and displaced from the stop position So of the rotor part 5 in the non-conductive state of the coil part 4, and an energization control means 9 for variably controlling at least the magnitude of the drive current Id to be supplied to the coil part 4.
