PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive unit in which a user can accurately determine whether an optical disk D is loaded or not even if a power is turned off, and to provide an information processing system equipped with the same. SOLUTION: The drive unit for loading the optical disk therein and reading and writing the optical disk has an optical system comprising a lighting window 15A to receive external light L, a reflector 27A for reflecting the received light L and a discriminating window 26A for outputting the reflected light L to the outside.
