PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder and recording method for managing the number of copy creatable times of content that can be copied a plurality of times. SOLUTION: The recorder is configured to have a recording part (30) for copying first content (C1) with the number of first copy creatable times (N1) and recording second content (C2) with the number of second copy creatable times (N2) in a recording area, and a managing part (42) for arbitrarily distributing the number of second copy creatable times (N2) from the number of first copy creatable times (N1) when the recording part copies the first content and recording the second content in a recording area, and consequently rewriting the number of first copy creatable times (N1) into the number of new first copy creatable times (N1-1) subtracted by the distribution processing and content copying processing.
